Artifact #5

This method is my favorite! I would have discussions with my fiancé about some of the topics. This made for great discussions and allowed for our minds to wonder. Thinking about some of the topics Malcolm Gladwell writes about are pretty deep and its interesting to get another persons perspective.

Artifact #4

This method is probably just my thing but I have to take my time and really understand what I'm reading. If I run across a word I haven't seen before or don't remember the definition I will circle the word and look it up before moving on. This ensures that I stay current on the vocabulary and don't get confused while reading on.

Artifact #3

The third method incorporated the internet. Doing research added great depth to some of the characters in the book. This helped me get a picture of the person rather than just looking at words in the book. For whatever reason this made them come alive and made reading about them more interesting.

Artifact #2

The second method I found extremely helpful was copying down the highlighted sections into my notebook. I would usually do this at the end of each page so that I had to recall one more time what I had just read.

Artifact #1

The first and most basic method I used to help me understand and retain the reading was to put myself in a situation where I could focus on reading and reduce any distractions around me. I would first have the space around me quite and comfortable, usually sitting on my couch with a snack and a glass of water. Having things like food and water close by forced me to sit and read otherwise I would become distracted and look for things to do other than my homework.

WRAPPING IT UP!!!

Blink has been an AMAZING book!
Malcolm Gladwell has inspired a lot of critical thinking within the pages of his book. Creating a blog is interesting being that it's open for anybody to read and discuss. I think personal blogs are a bit narcissistic in nature and personally I'm not all that into it. I had a blog a while ago and after a few weeks lost interest. I've since attempted to delete my Facebook profile and detach from social media but that has turned into a mission unto itself. There are some really good blogs out there for people to stay connected however I just choose to engage in a more real life kind of way and not while sitting on my couch. In general creating this blog wasn't difficult and anyone that wants to post about whatever can make one.
